Russell S. Hassan received his Ph.D. with a concentration in organizational behavior from the Rockefeller College at SUNY, Albany. At the Glenn School, he teaches courses on leadership, public management and research methods. His current research focuses on the influence of managerial practices on motivation, commitment and performance of government employees.
Dr. Hassan’s research works have appeared and are forthcoming in leading journals in the field of public management including the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Public Administration Review, International Public Management Journal, and American Review of Public Administration. His research has been recognized with national awards including the Carlo Masini Award for innovative scholarship and the Charles H. Levine Award for the best paper at the Academy of Management Annual meetings. He currently is a member of the editorial board for the International Public Management Journal.
Before joining the Glenn School, Dr. Hassan worked as a business analyst and an IT consultant in state and local government agencies in New York and California.
