Joshua Hawley
Associate Professor,
joint appointment with Education and Human Ecology
Professor Hawley's research is focused on workforce and education policy for state and national governments. This research cuts across education, public policy, economics, and evaluation. His published research includes studies of economic returns to education, analyses of the
inter-relationships between workforce and economic development, and many evaluations for state and national government of specific programs/policies.
He is currently an Associate Professor in the John Glenn School and an Associate Professor in the College of Education and Human Ecology. Within the Glenn School he serve as the Principal Investigator for the National Institutes of Health Scientific Workforce Project at the Battelle Center for Math and Science Education. Moreover, he serves as the Research Director for the Workforce Data Quality Initiative in Ohio,
a collaborative of the Center for Human Resources Research at OSU, the Ohio Board of Regents, and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Dr. Hawley has served as a consultant for many international agencies, including the World Bank, UNESCO, and UNICEF, and has worked in Russia, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Thailand, Uganda, and Ethiopia.
Dr. Hawley earned his Ed.D. and Ed.M from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Administration, Planning and Social Policy, as well as undergraduate and Masters degrees from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. He also attended the Chiang Mai University in Thailand.
