In recent months we’ve all become too familiar with this scenario: while debating the most pressing policy issues of the day, an elected official breaches protocol with an extreme outburst. How can we move away from crippling partisan divisions and towards civil discourse as a means of solving our problems?

Bob Bennett, former chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, and Rep. Ted Celeste (D-24th District) came to the Glenn School to talk about the issue of civility in politics from their unique perspectives. Watch the video above to learn what they had to say.

Bob Bennett was the chairman of the Ohio Republican Party from 1988-2009.
He managed Robert Taft, Jr.'s successful U.S. Senate campaign in 1970. The next year he managed the campaign of Ralph Perk for mayor of Cleveland. From 1974 to 1988, he served as Vice-Chairman of the Cuyahoga County Republican Party.

Ted Celeste represents the 24th House District in the Ohio House of Representatives where he chairs both the Alternative Energy committee and the Higher Education subcommittee of Finance and Appropriations. He also serves on the Consumer Affairs and Economic Protection; Finance and Appropriations; and Judiciary committees.
