Kiplinger Programs

The Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism in the John Glenn School provides digital media training to journalists, public policy leaders and a wide range of other professionals.

For those interested in learning about social media and multimedia tools and strategies, the program offers both residential fellowships for journalists and short-term Digital Media CreatorCamps open to everyone.

The midcareer journalists selected each year as Kiplinger Fellows produce in-depth multimedia projects they take back to their newsrooms. The fellowship program begins with digital media courses — examining how digital technologies affect public affairs, how online stories are produced, and how newsrooms are transitioning to online journalism. In addition, journalists work with public policy students in the Glenn School.

Beyond the training and fellowship aspects of the program, Kiplinger leaders Debra Jasper and Betsy Hubbard also teach graduate-level public policy classes examining the impact of digital media on public affairs, civic engagement and journalism.

Those interested in applying for a fellowship, signing up for a Digital Media CreatorCamp, or  arranging for customized digital media training, should contact Program Coordinator Patti Confar at confar.4@osu.edu.
