Rock the Vote empowers young people to step up and claim their voice in the political process, changing the way politics are done. Come out for a rally on our campus to meet and greet with guest appearances by high-profile celebrities all while engaging in the political process and learning more about being an engaged citizen!

 


 

First Presidential Debate Live Screening

Wednesday, October 3rd, 9pm at Saxbe Auditorium, Moritz College of Law

After the debate, Paul Beck (Professor Emeritus of Political Science), Edward Foley (Professor of Law) and David Stebenne (Professor of History and Law) will discuss the debate.

 


 

C-SPAN’S CAMPAIGN 2012 BUS WILL MAKE A STOP AT OHIO STATE

The Campaign 2012 Bus travels the country to promote and enhance C-SPAN’s extensive resources and political coverage by stopping at major political events and meeting with voters on the campaign trail. The Campaign 2012 Bus introduces viewers to C-SPAN and the C-SPAN Video Library — an archive featuring 190,000 hours of programming dating back to 1987. During the visit to Ohio, C-SPAN representatives will encourage citizens and students to share their thoughts on the presidential campaign. Participants will be asked to comment on the presidential candidates and the issues most important to them in this election cycle. Their responses — captured in 15-second videos via Smartphone and shared instantly — will be uploaded onto various C-SPAN social media platforms. Responses in this week-long election special will also be highlighted on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal.

 


 

2012 Mock Presidential Debate

Tuesday October 2nd, 7:00pm in the Ohio Union U.S. Bank Conference Theater

You’ve seen the ads, now hear the “candidates”! Modeled along the guidelines set forth by the Commission on Presidential Debates, students from the Politics, Society, and Law Scholars will portray the real-world candidates for President and Vice-President, arguing their positions and policies on foreign and domestic topics in a pair of moderated head-to-head debates.

 


 

OUAB Flicks For Free featuring “Ides of March”

Wednesday, October 3rd at 6 and 8:30pm in the Ohio Union-US Bank Conference Theater

In collaboration with OSU Votes and The Ohio Union’s Pay It Forward, OUAB will be showing the video “Ides of March” about an idealistic staffer for a new presidential candidate getting a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail.

 


 

2012 Election Night Extravaganza

Tuesday November 6th, 6:30-10:30pm in Woody’s Tavern at the Ohio Union

The campaigns have ended and the votes are cast – it’s time to see what happens! Sponsored by the John Glenn Civic Leadership Council and the Politics, Society, and Law Scholars, students from across campus will converge on Woody’s Tavern to relax and watch the election results roll in. Several distinguished guest speakers will be joining us throughout the night while other fun surprises are in store. Whether you’re Republican, Democrat, Green Party, Tea Party, Green Tea Party, or something else, everyone is welcome!
